When joining
Swimmers Swimming Club Inc. competitors have the opportunity to develop socially with other ambitious people of their own
age. Whilst the onus is on self achievement by the swimmer, we hope that all
aspects of the sport are a source of enjoyment and satisfaction for them and their whole families. As well as their physical development as athletes, Club members will develop independence and social self-reliance
as they learn and adjust to the protocol of an officially run swim meet - race preparation, marshalling, assembling behind
the starting blocks, and swimming in the event itself. Club members will
strive for self achievement reflected in Personal Best (PB) swimming times and will also feel the pride of swimming as part
of the team with Swimmers Swimming Club.
To swim in recognised
championships or swim meets in Victoria, swimmers
must be registered with Swimming Victoria and be members of an affiliated club. Most of the club membership fee goes
directly to Swimming Victoria to pay registration for one year - May 1 to 30 April - and a member must be re-registered
each year through the club.
The Club conducts
regular in-house club meets.
There are 20 club meets held during the year on Friday nights between 7pm
and 9pm., at SWIMMERS in the 25 metre pool. These Club Meets are only available to members of the club.

They are designed for self improvement and over the course of the year the results of the races will help
determine the Club's age group champions and Club Champion. The program for each club meet is closely related to the squad training programs and to the compulsory District (Metro West) based events coming up. Club meets are for all club members regardless
of ability. All members are required to attend as often as possible, both to
have fun and to gain the benefits of regular "meet practice" for bigger events to come. As well as club and District
meets, there are carnivals and competitions conducted by Swimming Victoria and by individual metropolitan and country clubs throughout the year.

When joining a club
like SWIMMERS, competitors will have the opportunity to develop socially with other young people of their own age. Whilst the onus is on self achievement, we are particularly conscious of the need to ensure that all aspects
of the sport are a source of enjoyment for both the swimmers and their families. By
achieving this we believe we can foster a sense of belonging and hopefully develop a good and responsible attitude within
the swimmers themselves.
