Club Membership

All members of Club Squad, Advanced and Top Squad should  have submitted their Club membership forms by now.  Club members must be registered to enable them to compete.  The membership fee is $115.  Forms are available from Reception.

Club Meets

Club Meets are held at SWIMMERS on selected Friday nights.
Attendance at Club Meets is compulsory.

A $4 entry fee is charged for each swimmer for each meet.  Most of this money goes to the Club to be used for the purchase of trophies and to meet Club running costs.  Fifty cents from each $4 is allocated to a fund to assist our swimmers when they reach National level competition. The entry fee is the Club’s sole source of revenue.  You’ll be pleased to know the Club does not conduct raffles, street stalls, chocolate sales etc. and other irksome forms of money raising!

All parents will be rostered to assist in the conduct of these meets.
Don’t worry if you’ve never held a stop watch before – it will only take about 60 seconds for you to learn!

Age Group Champions

At these meets throughout the season swimmers will compete in events in their own age groups (7, 8, 9, 10 etc) in all strokes.  They will be awarded points for wins or places in events depending upon the number of competitors in a race, with bonus points for breaking records.  Events scheduled will reflect the training programs of the squads at the time.  A schedule detailing all Friday night Club Meets at Swimmers has been distributed to all members and is also available at www.swimmersmelton.com.au.

To qualify for Club Age Group Champion you must have a minimum of 24 points.  It is in your own best interest that you attend as many Friday night Club Meets at Swimmers as possible, not only to attain the necessary number of points, but to also gain valuable race experience and improve your results as the season progresses.

Club Champion

A Club Champion will be appointed by the Committee each year.  To be selected a swimmer must demonstrate over the course of the season

·           a positive attitude to training and competition

·
sportsmanship & appropriate behaviour during both training and competition

·           swimming performances which are praiseworthy bearing in mind the swimmer's age and experience

·           a regular and consistent attendance at Club Meets and Club Approved Competitions.

Bob Bayley and David Rees will be judging the performances of club members, the voting taking place on the Monday following a Club Meet.

Club Uniforms

While the Committee are conscious of trying to keep costs low we all think it looks great to see swimmers competing and looking like a team.  A uniform also helps to distinguish your own child at a distance on the blocks and in the water when competing for the Club at outside meets.  Club bathers and caps must be worn at all competitions but an exception is made for those who have full or part body suits for racing.  Navy polo shirts screen printed with the Club logo and micro fibre track suit top are also compulsory uniform.  Track pants are optional. All items of uniform can be obtained from Reception

Flippers

Flippers are used on a regular basis in training.  Please make sure your children have a correctly fitting pair, marked with their name
